About Me

As teams come together to work toward a common vision, aligning mission and vision with strategy and execution is critical to success. If we can stay rooted in our shared vision and work together toward a common goal, we can be successful together. This requires us to champion values like transparency, empathy, and respect to ensure that the organizations allow teams to thrive and grow together.

As an organizational consultant and fractional manager, it is my goal to support organizations to help achieve this vision of thriving teams who understand the greater goals and bring energy toward their achievement. This work is informed by my experience with community organizing and advocacy for impacted communities, helping me remain mindful of the need for effective service. Our work experience must be rooted in dignity and in an environment that is nurturing with open channels of communication that celebrate the contributions of everyone.

Professional Experience

With over thirty years’ experience in management roles at for-profit, non-profit, and start-up companies, I bring a whole-systems approach to supporting mission-oriented organizations. My career path was centered in the publishing industry, though after becoming more involved with service-oriented work at a nonprofit, I embraced working toward work on mission fulfillment.

Highlights include:

As Executive Director of the nonprofit North Atlantic Books, I was exposed to the intricacies of nonprofit management and from there, I embraced mission-oriented work.

As CEO of the start-up CannaKeys, I learned potent lessons in launching a business from the beginning and building a team.

As Director of Finance and Operations at the Shulgin Foundation, I deepened my experience of organization building and scaling a nonprofit.

Advocacy and Activism

My advocacy and community experience is centered around the intersection of social justice and the gift economy. Seeing an abundance of local fruit, vegetables, and herbs, I founded Bay Foodshed, which offered initiatives, including Garden-To-Table and Local Lemonade, that collected local surplus resources and connected them with placed of need.

In the cannabis industry, I worked in compliance and community development and served as the Program Director of the compassion program Mission: Compassion which provided free cannabis medicine to low-income patients. I was a founding member of the California Compassion Coalition which drove the passage of SB34, The Dennis Peron/Brownie Mary Act, which created compliant pathways for compassionate cannabis activities in California.
